Congratulations Keaton McCargo! So proud of, and happy for, my sweet amazing friend. And thrilled to have made her gold medal! Today — at the 2018 US Freestyle Championships-Moguls, hosted by Waterville Valley.
24 Miles. 10K Vertical Rise. Pure FUN for the hard-core. The annual Audi Power of Four Ski Mountaineering race, at Aspen Snowmass, is this Saturday… and shiny Kiitella medals await the podium finishers. Note 1st place medals pay tribute to vintage ski pole baskets.
On February 23-24 Boston will host the 2018 Annual Benefit Dinner for the American Alpine Club (AAC). The AAC’s most prestigious yearly event honors those making outstanding achievements in conservation, climbing and mountaineering. This year’s honorees: John Roskelley, Alex Honnold, Ellen Lapham and former U.S. Secretary of the Interior and accomplished climber Sally Jewell. (Can we have her back please?)
Congratulations to Margo Hayes—the 2018 Bates award recipient. For the award, Kiitella created a hefty and bold 5″ diameter jet-cut steel medallion, hand-polished with high-shined highlights, a riveted AAC logo, and finished with bright accessory cord. “The Robert Hicks Bates Award’s purpose is to recognize a young climber who—in the judgment of the selection committee—has demonstrated exceptional skill and character in the climbing or mountaineering arts and has outstanding promise for future accomplishment.” – AAC
Telluride AIDS Benefit: Metal Artist Issenberg Honors #25
by Susan Viebrock
The Telluride AIDS Benefit continues to wave its “Fight.Fund.Educate” banner on high – and with good reason…
To honor TAB’s silver anniversary, artist Lisa Issenberg’s uber cool cuff is now on sale for $75 at the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art. The Gallery has represented Lisa’s work, primarily her jewelry, since 1992.
At the 2018 Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver, CO, Camber Outdoors celebrated the cherished outdoor industry icon Ann Krcik with a Lifetime Achievement award. Kiitella hand-crafted the honorary plaque with a lamination of satin-polished bronze plate and thick bamboo. Krcik delivered a beautiful acceptance speech via video and received a standing ovation of a few hundred. Conrad Anker accepted Krcik’s award for her. See the award…
TAB25: Limited edition leather and stainless steel cuff created by Kiitella in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Telluride AIDS Benefit. Each purchase supports the work of AIDS Service Organizations in Colorado and Africa. They were launched on World Aids Day at the TAB Dance Party, and will be available again at the 25th Anniversary TAB Fashion Show in March (get your tickets!). Meanwhile, you can also find them in Telluride at the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art.
The Birds of Prey medals… classic, minimal, sleek and hefty in gold, silver and bronze (brass, stainless steel and bronze)… This past weekend the Men’s FIS Alpine World Cup racers competed again at Beaver Creek, the only US stop on the tour.
The COSMIC Series kicked off at Eldora this past weekend with a bang. Congrats to winners of the Sprint, Vertical and Individual races. Kiitella’s COSMIC award is layered with symbolism, all contained in a minimal and sleek steel medallion. The cutout shape in the center: pozidriv (driv.. not drive), topo map background, compass dial – it spins, and 6mm accessory cord. Non-functional, yet totally inspired medals for the burly racers.
