Kiitellä custom designed and fabricated new awards for the American Avalanche Association — for presentation at the 2016 International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) in Breckenridge, Colorado. The new design was completely ignited by AAA’s fresh new logo… As Lynne Wolfe, editor of The Avalanche Review, explained, “The 80’s called and wanted their [old] logo back.” AAA is presenting three types of awards this year: Honorary Membership to a person who has distinguished themselves by special achievement in the field of snow avalanches, Honorary Fellowship recipients are recognized by their peers in the AAA for significant contribution to avalanche-related programs in countries other than the United States, and the Kingery Award, which recognizes sustained career contributions by dedicated avalanche field professionals.
